| Bill Racine has been recording music since the age of 15. Bill recently went out on his own after spending two years at Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studios where he assisted Dave with the likes of with the Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse, Mercury Rev, Mogwai, Longwave, Phantom Planet, Cafe Tacuba, Goldrush, Wheat and Whirlwind Heat. Prior to his time at Tarbox, he spent two years at Bearsville (Recording Studios) where he worked with producers such as Roger Moutenot and Neil Dorfsman. Before Bearsville, he interned at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco with producer John Croslin. Bill is also adept at front-of-house sound, and has done live sound for the likes of Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Moe, Joseph Arthur, Burning Spear and Longwave. |
| On his own, Bill's recording credits include the first two records by the acclaimed Rogue Wave (Sub Pop), Mates of State (Barsuk/ Moshi Moshi) Phantom Planet’s live CD and DVD, Mercury Rev offshoots Hopewell (Tee Pee/Zeal), The Silent League (Something In Construction) and Odiorne, and Ryan Laurie (who contributed guitar to the Lips' Yoshimi). He produced, recorded and mixed various songs for NYC’s Levy (One Little Indian). He returned to Tarbox to record new tracks with Mark Gardener (of Ride fame) and Goldrush for These Beautiful Ghosts (UFO). Most recently, he co-produced and recorded the new album by The Comas (Vagrant) |
| Bill has worked on several tracks that appeared in various forms of media. He produced, recorded and mixed the Rogue Wave track featured in the Stubbs The Zombie videogame (Aspyr) and soundtrack (which also features the music of The Flaming Lips, Death Cab For Cutie, The Walkmen, etc.). Several Rogue Wave songs appeared in The O.C., and Bill mixed the Mates’ cover of Phantom Planet’s “California” for the Christmas episode of The O.C. The Mates of State “For The Actor” is featured in an AT & T commercial. He has recently recorded and mixed several live preformances by the likes of Rhianna, The Fields, Gym Class Heroes, etc. for Sprint and Atlantic Records. |
