After 2003’s brilliant Young
Liars EP, Paul Mahajan continues his work
with TV on the Radio on the Short List Music
Prize winner Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty
Babes and on the new single “New Health Rock.”
Having worked with the cream of the new New York rock
scene in 2003 (TVOTR, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and
Liars), he has continued working with up and coming
NYC based artists including the introspective The
National (Beggars Banquet), PS (led by Irish

acclaimed album, Universal Audio (Chemikal
Underground) as well as Belle & Sebastian’s
critically and commercially successful Dear
Catastrophe Waitress (Rough Trade), which
just achieved gold status, and its various singles. He
also spent some time up at Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road
Studios producing and recording the new album by Lake
Trout (Rx / Palm Pictures). And he also produced
and mixed UK indie sensation The Research (At

Besides getting props for his work
on
Rogue Wave’s debut album (Sub Pop),
Bill Racine
has been
busy recording
some of NYC’s finest up and coming bands, including Mercury
Rev offshoots

and Silent League offshoots
Loaded Dreams. He still shuttles up to Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Studios on occasion to
work with the likes of
Mark Gardener
(from
Ride) and will do live sound (The
Flaming Lips’s
appearance on
Late Night With Conan O’Brien).
And he just completed a new
Rogue Wave track for the
Stubbs The Zombie videogame (Aspyr) and soundtrack (which
will also feature the music of The Flaming Lips, Death
Cab For Cutie, The Walkmen, etc.). Bill just entered the
studio to work on the next Rogue Wave album. |

Here's what the critics
have to say about Grand Mal's
Bad Timing. |
|
|
 |
New York Times:
"Grand Mal mixes three parts Rolling Stones, one part
Velvet Underground and the wit to come up with lines
like, "I'm going home I can't sit still/When I'm with
you I feel incurably ill," for rock with an unabashed
swagger." |
